Terminal Game Launcher Simplifies Steam Access
New terminal-based game launcher streamlines access to Steam library
A new open-source project, Quarter, is a command-line interface (CLI) launcher for Steam games. It sits on top of existing launchers, eliminating the need for login credentials or API keys.
Developed in Go with Bubble Tea, Quarter reads Steam's local files, allowing for direct access to your game library. The tool uses Sixel to render game logos in the terminal, with text fallbacks for unsupported terminals.
The creator's goal was to create a fast and straightforward way to launch games from the terminal. Simply run Quarter, select a game, and press Enter to start playing.
Currently, Quarter supports Steam, with plans to add support for Epic, GOG, and other launchers in the future. Testing has been done on Windows 11 with Windows Terminal.
